Jewellery Care Guide
Proper care helps maintain the beauty, finish, and longevity of your jewellery. Follow the specific care instructions below based on the material of your piece.
*Silver Jewellery Care*
Silver tarnishes naturally due to oxidation — a reaction with sulfur and moisture present in the air. With the right habits, tarnishing can be significantly reduced.
1. The “Last On, First Off” Rule
Always apply perfumes, lotions, and hairspray before wearing your silver jewellery. Chemicals in these products accelerate tarnishing.
2. Wear It Often
Regular wear actually helps. The natural oils in your skin can slow down tarnish buildup and help keep silver looking bright.
3. Cleaning Silver Jewellery
Use a dedicated silver polishing cloth for regular maintenance.
For deeper cleaning, use a mild dish soap with warm water or a gentle paste made of baking soda and water.
Avoid harsh cleaners or abrasive tools.
4. Proper Storage
Store silver jewellery in a cool, dry place. Airtight zip-lock bags or anti-tarnish pouches are ideal as they limit exposure to oxygen and moisture.
*Lab-Grown Diamond Care*
Lab-grown diamonds are chemically and structurally identical to mined diamonds and are extremely durable. However, they attract skin oils and soap residue, which can make them appear cloudy over time.
5. The Soap Soak
To restore brilliance, soak your jewellery in a bowl of warm water mixed with mild dish soap for about 20 minutes.
6. Gentle Cleaning
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clean beneath the diamond and around the prongs, where dirt and residue tend to collect.
7. Rinse & Dry
Rinse thoroughly under running water (ensure the drain is closed). Pat dry using a lint-free microfiber cloth. Avoid air-drying, as it can leave water spots.
*Gold Vermeil Jewellery Care*
Gold vermeil consists of a thick layer of gold plated over sterling silver. As it is a plated finish, it requires more delicate care than solid gold to prevent wear over time.
8. Keep Away from Moisture
Never wear gold vermeil jewellery while swimming, showering, or during heavy sweating. Chlorine and moisture can cause the gold layer to lift or fade.
9. Avoid Polishing Cloths
Standard silver polishing cloths are abrasive and can strip the gold layer. Use only a very soft, dry microfiber cloth for gentle buffing.
10. Prevent Friction
Store gold vermeil pieces separately in individual pouches to avoid friction with other jewellery, which can gradually wear down the gold finish.
11. Cleaning Gold Vermeil
If cleaning is necessary, use only warm water and a soft cloth — no soap or chemicals. Pat dry immediately and never leave the piece damp.
